A Minimalist Leader started here: ten years ago (circa Feb-July 2014). I stumbled into a dark alley and then onto a road I never wanted to pave.
I inched one toe onto a gravely, dirt road of a new life someone else chose for me.
Single again.
By default, I decluttered 90% of my earthly possessions. I packed the remaining 10% into a SUV and a pickup truck.
I vowed never to ever allow my life or my home to ever become overly cluttered with material possessions. Ever.
Then life, as it does, happened.
As I began to rebuild, I accumulated lovely things that well-meaning people gave to me. Other things I purchased. Still others lingered around (the remaining 10%). Through all of the goodness, I gained back 40% of what I’d once decluttered.
Five years, 50% stuff, and six moves later, I found myself facing a seventh move. This time, I would have to do a major declutter (once again!).
Once again, I decluttered.
Once again, I owned 10%.
Once again, I vowed never to ever allow my life or my home to ever become overly cluttered with material possessions. Ever!
Five years later, 40% more stuff, and five moves later, I now find myself ready to release and get back to the 10%.
A comfortable 10% of what I owned ten years ago.
It took me ten years to get here. But in this precious time, I’ve learned that the 10% is all I need and want.
You might say I’m minimal-ish. Perhaps you’d even call me minimal-ist.
Either way: I’m taking back what the enemy of my soul stole from me ten years ago. And I’m being #ruthless about it.
But I can’t get there without releasing the 30% that’s still weighing me down.
So, today (July 1, 2024):
Once again, I am decluttering.
Once again, I vow never to ever allow my life or my home to ever become overly cluttered with material possessions. Ever!
No turning back. Wanna go with me?
I’ve finally learned that the road to decluttering is paved with obstacles that are difficult to overcome without friends along the way. I found a mentor (Dawn aka The Minimal Mom) and like-minded friends.
Join me on my journey from minimal-ish to minimal-ist, and learn:
- How to stop the never-ending cycle of stuff shuffling and make final decisions on what stays or what goes.
- Who gets to have a say-so in what you keep, toss, or donate; so you can keep peace in your home and office.
- Why clutter is keeping you from achieving your personal/professional goals and how you can move forward in life and work with peace, possibilities, and perseverance.
